[MUSIC PLAYING] I enjoy being on court in an atmosphere of people cheering you on, and coach supporting you, family supporting you. It's what I love to do. Playing a sport at SMC not only has benefitted me as an athlete on the court, but has benefited me as a person, as in caring about others and bettering people.
I feel supported by the community here at SMC, especially when the games start up. You have a lot of people coming out to support you and cheer for you, because they have good school spirit. And your professors are very understanding of the sport you play. A lot of the professors and been there. They've played sports in college. And if not, they understand what you're going through. All you've got to do is talk to them, and they're willing to work with you.
I think having athletics on the campus enriches student life by giving them something to come out and support and show school spirit. Last year, we were very successful in volleyball, and our basketball went on to the national tournament. Baseball is doing really good, wrestling, all of them. Many SMC baseball players have went on with pros, such as Mookie Wilson, Reggie Sanders, and Dwight Smith.
